Abstract

Abstract. In Indonesia, stunting and other nutritional disorders remain significant public health
problems. The long-term impacts on physical growth and cognitive development must be
prevented through early detection. The objective of this study is to develop a web-based expert
system that applies the Certainty Factor (CF) method to diagnose nutritional disorders in children.
The system implements CF calculations to determine the level of diagnostic confidence based on
the symptoms selected by users.
The development process includes knowledge acquisition, system design, implementation using
React.js and Node.js, and black-box testing. The implementation results indicate that the system is
capable of generating diagnoses accompanied by confidence values, which represent the expert
reasoning process. The Certainty Factor method is considered appropriate for handling
uncertainty in systems designed for early detection of nutritional disorders.
